Challenges in confectionery industry: Development and storage stability of innovative white tea-based candies.

The aim of this study was the development of innovative candies formulations accordant with the present trends in the confectionery industry. Steviol glycosides, sorbitol, and agave syrup were used as sucrose alternatives, while agar and pectin were included instead of gelatin for the formulation of vegan candies. Additionally, white tea extract was used as a candy base and source of bioactive compounds.

Rheumatoid arthritis and dietary interventions: systematic review of clinical trials.

CONTEXT: The impact of various dietary interventions on rheumatoid arthritis (RA), characterized by immune-inflammatory response, has been subject to increased attention. OBJECTIVE: A systematic review was conducted to update the current knowledge on the effects of nutritional, dietary supplement, and fasting interventions on RA outcomes. DATA SOURCES: Following the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA) guidelines, with prespecification of all methods, Medline and Embase were systematically searched for relevant articles.

The Dietary Behaviors of Participants in UK-Based Meat Reduction and Vegan Campaigns - A Longitudinal, Mixed-Methods Study.

Meat reduction, vegetarianism, and veganism have greatly increased in popularity during the 21st century, particularly in the United Kingdom. Yet, little is known about the process of reducing or abstaining. Through the use of focus groups and a longitudinal, web-based survey delivered over a twelve-month period, this project provides insights into the reported dietary habits and trends of participants in UK-based meat reduction and vegan campaigns (n = 1539).

Dietary interventions in blood pressure lowering: current evidence in 2020.

Dietary modification is one of the cornerstones in the treatment of arterial hypertension (AH). Current American and European guidelines recommend people to ingest fruit, vegetables, whole grains, and low‑fat dairy products as well as to decrease the consumption of red meat, sugar, and trans fats. This review aimed to summarize available evidence on dietary patterns associated with lower blood pressure (BP). Research has shown that the Dietary Approach to Stop Hypertension (DASH) diet can lower BP equally effectively or even more significantly than some antihypertensive drugs.

The Knowledge and Attitudes of Pediatricians in Israel Towards Vegetarianism.

OBJECTIVES: Pediatricians have an important role in the dietary education of children, and in the nutritional health of their patients. We aimed to assess nutritional knowledge, familiarity with guidelines, and attitudes of pediatricians regarding vegetarian diets. METHODS: A cross-sectional study using a previously implemented questionnaire, distributed amongst a convenience sample of pediatricians in Israel. For each participant, scores of knowledge and of attitudes towards vegetarian diets were calculated.

Genetic susceptibility, plant-based dietary patterns, and risk of cardiovascular disease.

BACKGROUND: Plant-based dietary patterns may be related to better cardiovascular profiles. Whether a healthy plant-based dietary index is predictive of future cardiovascular disease (CVD) across people with different genetic susceptibility remains uncertain. OBJECTIVE: We investigated associations of adherence to healthy plant-based diets with the incidence of CVD considering the genetic susceptibility. METHODS: This prospective cohort study included a total of 156,148 adults initially free of CVD and cancer.

What is the best diet for cardiovascular wellness? A comparison of different nutritional models.

Cardiovascular diseases (CVD) represent to date the leading cause of mortality in both genders in the developed countries. In this context, a strong need for CVD prevention is emerging through lifestyle modification and nutrition. In fact, several studies linked CVD with unhealthy nutrition, alcohol consumption, stress, and smoking, together with a low level of physical activity. Thus, the primary aim is to prevent and reduce CVD risk factors, such as impaired lipid and glycemic profiles, high blood pressure and obesity.
